The Kenya Film Classification Board (KFCB) executive officer Ezekiel Mutua has urged Kenyans to familiarise themselves with their mandate to ensure they can present their grievances regarding film and broadcast content appropriately.
Speaking on Wednesday after paying a courtesy call to Uasin Gishu deputy county commissioner Christopher Wanjau, Mutua said most Kenyans are not conversant with their mandate since it is a newly formed body.
"Since we are a newly established body most Kenyans don't know our mandate and we have embarked on an awareness exercise in the 47 counties for Kenyans to know what we do," he said.
He said the mandate of the board is to regulate and licence film and broadcast content, to ensure the content aired is of the right quality and to the right audience.
"I urge Kenyans to help us in our work by reporting broadcasters and players in the film industry airing or selling obscene content to the public," he said.
