Administration Police (AP) officers in Matuu town have arrested four men who have been on the run after they allegedly assaulted a bar waitress.

Speaking on Thursday at Matuu police post, area assistant Chief Francis Mutua confirmed the incident.

"The four men who are residents of my location started beating up a woman who is an attendant of the local club after she asked them to clear their bill, "Mutua said.

According to Mutua, the incident occurred on Tuesday night.

The scuffle left the property in the local pub destroyed.

The four culprits were arrested in Maiyuni and later handed to Matuu Police station.

Police said investigations over the incident are ongoing and the four will be charged.
