Aspiring Kitutu Masaba MP Victor Swanya has joined Timothy Bosire in wishing 2015 KCPE candidates all the best in their exams by donating Sh500,000 to candidates in the area.
Swanya, who was visiting Iranya primary school on Thursday, said the money will be given to all school heads by the end of the weekend, ahead of the national exams scheduled for next week.
Swanya challenged area candidates to face the exams with confidence, and discouraged any attempts by area institutions to be engaged in exam malpractices.
“As an individual, I support education in totality, and I take this opportunity to call upon all school heads to submit their mobile phone numbers for effective transfer of the cash to cater for lunch of our candidates. They need to be motivated, and at the same time I urge them to face the exams with confidence and avoid being involved in any examination malpractices,” he said.
He added that the Ogeto Swanya Foundation was keen to support brilliant students who would score high grades in the exams.
“Our region hasn’t been performing well in national exams, but I think our teachers have prepared them well. It doesn’t end there and those who will perform well will receive sponsorship from Swanya Foundation. I am very keen in supporting education among our children,” he said.
Swanya also hinted of a possibility to start a programme to reward teachers whose subjects excel in national exams.
“As leaders, we tend to forget those who guide our children to excellent performances. But soon, my foundation will look into that,” he said.
