Nyamira governor John Nyagarama has yet again sent a stern warning to his cabinet, cautioning them of slow implementation of projects under their dockets.

This comes few days after a section of County Assembly members accused the executive of being slow in implementation of projects in rural areas leading to a public outcry.

Speaking on Thursday morning after a closed door meeting with top assembly leaders (Speaker, Majority and Minority leaders) alongside his executive, Nyagarama demanded implementation of projects that were grounded even after the assembly allocated enough funds for the projects.

According to the governor, CeC members were giving different reports with what the MCAs were saying, but insisted there was no short cut for projects implementation.

“I don’t want to dismiss what the representatives have said because they are always in touch with the people. The burden now shifts to my government and that is why the executive committee members have to up their game. I have issued enough warnings and they have to live up to expectations of Nyamira residents,” he told reporters after the meeting.

The county boss hinted at a possible axing of ‘lazy’ executives in case they failed to implement projects that had already been authorised.

“They (CeC) have to be vigil now or go home. Failure to implement projects gives my government a bad reputation and I think they have to heed calls or I take a bold action. I want to see taxpayers' money being put to good use,” he added.

His sentiments were supported by Majority Leader Laban Masira who urged CeC members to inspect projects that had been launched to check on their progress.

“As a leader of a department, you have to carry out inspection of projects that are ongoing. If you cannot do that simple task, then the governor should fire you,” Masira said.
