Ruiru Member of Parliament (MP) Esther Gathongo has urged the Kiambu government to improve facilities in public hospitals across the county.
Speaking when she visited patients at the Kiambu Hospital on Saturday, Gathongo said that service delivery will be better if facilities in hospitals are improved.
While acknowledging the slight improvement made by the county government with regards to renovating the Kiambu Hospital, the MP said that more has to be done.
“The county government should strive to make services better in all public hospitals and health centers by improving and investing in modern facilities,” she said.
The Ruiru MP observed that many people depended on public hospitals for treatment and specialised services.
Speaking at St. Benedict Children’s Home in Tigoni on Thursday, Kiambu Governor William Kabogo on the same note said that his government had made strides in the health sector.
Kabogo said that renovations in all public hospitals and health enters had been started in the county.
The governor added that plans are underway to increase the bed capacity in all public hospitals. The Kiambu governor also revealed that the county government had signed a partnership with some Indian hospitals to provide specialised treatment to patients within the county starting next year.
