Ruiru Sub County Deputy Commissioner Mercy Gatobu has warned criminals causing havoc in some parts of Ruiru saying that they will be trailed down and dealt with accordingly.

The deputy commissioner said that police have received complaints from the section of residents over rising insecurity. She said that law enforcers in the area will streamline patrols adding that criminals should surrender to the police.

Gatobu stated that law enforcers will not tolerate criminal gangs.

“Anyone engaging in crime should know that the law will have no mercy on him or her, we are going t hunt them down from their hideouts,” she said when she addressed journalists at Ruiru town on Tuesday.

The commissioner urged locals to share information with the police stating that the move will help in arresting the criminals.

She further appealed to residents to embrace Nyumba Kumi and other community policing security strategies being initiated by the government.

A section of residents in Ruiru town and neighbouring estates have been lamenting over increasing criminal activities. The residents allege existence of a terror gang that is behind home break-ins and attacks on bodaboda riders.

“We have complained and raised our matters with the police and it is their responsibility to quickly address insecurity,” said Mercy Njoroge.

Njoroge a vegetable vendor at Kiratina village in Ruiru said that cases of crime are causing them sleepless nights. She asked the police to streamline security and crackdown on criminals to enable residents do their work in peace.

On Monday, while commissioning the construction of the Z Corner-Kiriri Road in Githurai, Ruiru MP Esther Gathogo asked the police to streamline security. The MP said that she was getting concerned over rise in criminal activities targeting residents and business people.

Last week, Kiambu County Commissioner Alex Nkoyo said that security had improved in the county. While opening police posts in Gatundu South, Nkoyo assured residents of his commitment to tame crime urging locals to work closely with law enforcers.
