The county government of Kiambu will spend Sh64 million in various development projects in Gatuanyaga ward, the area Member of County Assembly Cecilia Wamaitha has said.

She said that the most of the projects are under health, education, water, social and agricultural departments.

The MCA who was addressing residents at Gatuanyaga Market on Tuesaday said construction of a male ward at Gatuanyaga Health Centre will receive a boost of Sh3 million while construction of a female ward in the same facility will receive Sh3.5 million.

Mwangi said Kamwathu, Karii and Gatuanyaga Day Secondary Schools will receive Sh525, 000 each.

She added that construction of an assistant chiefs camp at the main market at Gatunyaga will cost Sh3 million while construction of Thangatha reservoir had been allocated Sh7 million.

The MCA however said that implementing committees should ensure work was done well before approving the payments.

She called on the residents to take up the tenders, especially those with masonry skills as constructions are set to commence immediately.

She added that the children that have been absconding school to work in quarries in the region due to lack of food will no longer miss classes as the county government of Kiambu will resume its feeding program earlier next year.
