Hotel owners in Gatundu North sub county have been advised to ask for identification documents from guests booking into hotels.

Deputy County Commissioner Daniel Nyamiti said such measures will improve security inside the facilities and keep criminals at bay.

Speaking from his office on Saturday, Mr Nyamiti said the move would help the police in tracing such people in case crimes happen.

"This year, my officers will be on high alert to avert criminality in Gatundu. We have enough mechanisms of detecting crime scenes even before they are conducted. Police will be friendlier to residents to ensure the public does not fear to give information," he said.

The sub county boss appealed to members of the public to share information with the police and report any strangers hovering in the area with purpose of committing acts of crime.

"Security has been improved in Gatundu North after the government gave us out more patrol vehicles to boost mobility of police officers," he added.

He said that with the quick response team of police officers and facilities, police will be able to thwart all crimes.

"I call on residents to collaboratively make sure they embrace 'Nyumba Kumi' initiative that will help them identify strange persons around their locations," he added.

He thanked the police and local administrators for working in unison in 2015 to offer security.
