A Mombasa Court has sentenced a German to be jailed for four months after he was found guilty of entering a restricted area at Mombasa International Airport.
The accused, Mr Werner Konigsmark was arrested on October 29 at the airport after straying into a restricted area.
He was facing charges of being found in a restricted area without authority.
The prosecution told the court on the material date when the accused was arrested by airport security officers, he could not explain himself.
Konigsmark who spoke through an interpreter pleaded guilty to the charges.
In his defence, he said he strayed into the restricted area while looking for a place to buy a new air ticket.
The court heard from the accused that his air ticket had expired and he wanted to buy a new air ticket for a flight back to his country.
Mombasa Chief Magistrate Susan Shitubi in his ruling ordered that the accused should pay a fine of Sh50,000 or risk being jailed for four months.
