Kiamunyi and Olive-inn estates have in the recent past recorded higher developments. The estates have attracted even the rich in Nakuru. However, despite the beauty of the estates, residents who commute daily to Nakuru town have to put up with stinking odor emanating from the Gioto dump-site.

“At times the pungent smell from the dump-site gives you nausea. It is disgusting that despite numerous promises of its relocation, they are never honored,” said Denis Korir, a resident.

The dump-site which is a few kilometers from Nakuru is located in between London and Olive-inn estates. It is Nakuru’s main dumping area.

During the rainy season, litter from the dump-site are carried by floods thus causing them to scatter all over the busy Nakuru-Kabarak road.

With the gradually increasing traffic snarl-up incidents, affected resident are urging the county government do build a wall around the dumpsite or relocate it far from residential areas.
