The Coalition for Reforms and Democracy (Cord) has once against been accused of being ‘too critical’ of government without offering alternatives.

Former Kitutu Masaba MP Walter Nyambati on Sunday said the government was facing difficulties in initiating development due to constant political squabbles launched by the opposition coalition.

Nyambati, who also serves as chairman of Jomo Kenyatta Foundation, accused Cord of politicising serious issues hence inciting the public against an elected government.

“I understand the role of opposition but I think Cord has gone overboard. They are politicking minor issues and making them national issues for discussion making it difficult for the government to deliver. As much as they are critical, they should also try to offer alternative solutions,” he said while addressing residents of Kemera.

He particularly took on alleged rampant corruption in the country and blamed Cord for allegedly politicising the fight against corruption.

“They (opposition) lose the focus when they start fighting corrupting based on political affiliations. Corruption doesn’t know whether you’re in government or opposition and therefore, it should not be a matter of pointing fingers at the government. We should give institution mandated to fight the menace do their job,” he added.

He called for political tolerance among all politicians by engaging positively with the government to spar growth to all parts.

“The government is trying to do its job and we should try to support it. This isn’t the time for campaigns and whether in government or opposition, we should work as a team to spar growth. Honestly, it’s early to judge Jubilee and if we give the president and his leadership time, we will see progress,” he said.
