Speaking during a medical camp in Kiamaina at Bahati, Mrs Kinuthia said cancer screening was important in preventing it as it has become a killer disease.

"We can be able to contain the disease if diagonised early. Everybody, including men and children should go for testing at least once a year," said Mrs Kinuthia.

She also urged women to form and join self-help groups that will help them develop and improve themselves through various projects.

"As women, it is important to build yourselves since you are the mirrors in your homes," she advised.

The medical camp which is intended to reach over 6,000 women and 4,000 men in the county has been sponsored by the Nakuru County government.

The camp comes barely a month after the county government launched a cancer awareness campaign

She was accompanied by the chief officer for health Dr Samuel Mwaura.
