Kenya will partner with Google to control the content accessed locally via internet.
Kenya Film Classification Board Chief Executive Officer Ezekiel Mutua said the board had partnered with Google search engine to create applications that moderate the content on the internet.
This, he cited, was prompted by the increased cases of cyber bullying in the country.
Mr Mutua pointed out that Google officials will jet into the country to discuss possibilities of controlling the content.
“We are discussing the possibility of coming up with tools and applications that will block kids from accessing internet sites that will lure them into pornography and extremism," he said.
"We are aware that most sex predators are engaging their victims on the internet."
Mr Mutua also pointed the need to control cyber cafes in the country as many young children could now access free internet in them.
“We are concerned that many of the young children are falling prey to such predators,” he added.
Mr Mutua was speaking during a visit to the KFCB offices at the Nakuru Kenya Library Services where he lauded the role the board was playing in controlling the film and movie content.
“We intend to regulate any film and internet content that is out there to ensure that it does not affect the social and moral values of our children,” he said.
