Public Service, Youth and Gender Affairs Cabinet Secretary Sicily Kariuki has said the government has ensured partnerships and allocation of enough resources towards gender equality and women empowerment.
Speaking during the marking of International Women's Day at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC) on Tuesday, Kariuki said women contribute largely towards the country's economic growth hence the need to support them.
“As we celebrate strides that Kenya has made through its various interventions, I take note that the government's agenda in gender equality and women empowerment is securely guided by the constitution and is aligned to the sustainable development goals and other continental and global framework,” said the CS.
There have been concerns about gender disparity in government appointments and employment places- with women said to be the most affected.
