Speaking during a press briefing at Reformed Church on Tuesday, Lukwa said despite the government's promise to resettle the evictees, nothing has been done, leaving them to suffer in the cold.

"The national government should vet all those purporting to be Mau evictees since some of them are con men. Only genuine evictees should be compensated," he said.

He said the process of identifying genuine evictees should be done in a transparent way devoid of political interference.

"As Kalenjin leaders, we are disappointed with the Jubilee government for not resettling the Mau evictees despite settling other internally displaced persons. We are calling on the government to resettle them without politicising the matter since they are Kenyans and deserve to be just like other citizens," he said.
