Residents of Ngecha Village in Tigoni Ward have urged the government to guarantee their safety this festive season.

The residents want the government to deploy more security officers to do 24-hour security patrols.

Speaking to this reporter on Thursday, the residents said they will feel safe and continue with their daily activities if surveillance is beefed up.

John Onuko, a resident said there had been instances of crime reported in the area adding that the government has to provide security.

“It is Christmas season and criminals take advantage of the festivities to conduct robberies,” he said, adding that police have to be vigilant and deal with criminals.

Onuko said the government is mandated to provide security to all citizens.

Geoffrey Kimani a community policing officer in the area said security will be heightened in Ngecha and neigbouring towns like Limuru, Ruaka and Ndeiya.

He said that there have been meetings between local administrators and the police adding that there is no need for residents to fear.

“The government has put in place measures that will guarantee security of every citizen,” he said.

The area community policing officer urged residents to continue supporting the government as it implements security measures.

Speaking when he paid a courtesy call to Governor William Kabogo on Wednesday, Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinnet assured Kenyans that security will be improved.
