Pressure has continued to pile on the government to withdraw Kenyan Defense Forces from the war-torn Somalia following allegations by the MPs from the horn of Africa national that the forces were engaging in unscrupulous businesses.
The Somali parliament is said to have introduced a motion in parliament seeking withdrawal of Kenyan forces which has been working with African peace keeping forces.
Speaking on Tuesday at his backyard in Egetugi, outspoken Kitutu Masaba MP Timothy Bosire urged the government to drop the ‘hard line’ for the sake of protecting the country in its porous borders.
“It is quite unhelpful to keep forces deep in Somalia yet our borders are porous. It’s time for government to soften its stand and view the proposal to withdrawal forces with a clear and sober mind. It is for the common good of Kenyan people,” Bosire said.
Bosire who is also ODM National Treasurer said the move will help the country focus on securing its borders and decisively dealing with undetected movement of Al Shabbab militants who have been a menace to the country.
“It will be quite easier to monitor the enemy from border rather than doing in over 1,000KM from the border. That can minimise the movements of the militants and possibly thwart any terrorism threats,” he added.
