Nakuru County Governor Kinuthia Mbugua has assured that his government is on the front line in fighting drug and alcohol addiction in the region while also championing for ways of rehabilitating drug and substance addicts.

The county boss was speaking in his office in Nakuru on Tuesday, where he supported a partnership with Link Therapeutic Centre in a bid to manage the use of the substances among the youths.

"This is a good partnership that will help us curb this menace. We will constitute a team that will oversee this initiative which has rehabilitated over 30 people since its inception by President Uhuru Kenyatta," Mbugua said.

The Link Therapeutic Center Directors, led by chairman of the Board of Directors Joseph Gichuru, applauded the county’s efforts in improving the health standards of the people.

"We greatly appreciate the opportunity provided by the county government to reach many youths who are suffering from drug addiction. We will continue fighting this vice to ensure better health standards are achieved," Mr Gichuru said.

The meeting was also attended by Dr Waithanji Mutiti, chairman of the Nakuru County Public Service Board who lauded the partnership.
