Kisumu Governor, Jack Ranguma, has shrugged off claims by critics that he has failed his county and should not be given a second chance come 2017.
Ranguma was speaking on a local radio station on Wednesday morning where he stated that he should be given the chance to finish his development projects which he had started and are ongoing.
The governor has now joined other people who have declared their ambition for the gubernatorial seat in 2017. He said that he has brought development projects to the county. He cited the street-lighting being implemented in the county's urban and peri-urban areas as one of his achievements. He claimed the lighting has reduced insecurity in the region.
Ranguma also touted himself as the best person to continue leading the county. He added that they have done several kilometres of roads into the deep interiors of the county. He also cited his achievement in the health care sector. He added that health care has his top priority and his government has transformed the sector by upgrading and equipping all health facilities. Acquisition of ambulances for all sub-county hospitals and building a revamped intensive care unit at Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral hospital are his achievements.
"We have done this and many other things. Given a chance by Kisumu people, we will continue to change the lives of our people," he said.
Ranguma added that he is keen to visit all parts of the county, especially where he has not been to thank the people and address their issues.
