Green Spec International has partnered with Kisii's Yes Youth Can and Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) to initiate a soya beans project in Kisii County.
Addressing the press on Saturday in Kisii town, Green Spec director Vicky Onderi said they have agreed with the Kisii youth organisation to start the project.
"We had plans to have the project of soya beans in Kisii, but flopped due to financial issues. Am happy that finally we have partnered with Yes Youth Can and FAO to have the project in our county. FAO will provide financing for the project," said Onderi.
She said her organisation will extensively market the product and therefore, urged farmers to embrace the farming of soya beans.
"Many fear the soya beans project because of the market issue. There is aready market for the product and therefore, I ask farmers to embrace the crop," Onderi said
She added: "The crop can earn one good money, hence improvement of the county's economy."
Yes Youth Can president Dennis Orioki hailed the organisation and promised to use the opportunity to ensure that youth are economically empowered in the county.
