A group of well-wishers visited Mwariki Secondary School in Rhoda ward, where they donated sanitary towels and books to students.

This was during the school’s annual general meeting which included the students, teachers, parents and local leaders.

The group that comprised people drawn from all around Nakuru was led by businessman Hamisi Mutura, a resident of the area and an MCA aspirant.

Speaking during the handing over of the donations on Friday, Hamisi said everyone who attended the event had a responsibility to ensure the success of the school which is the only government funded school in the ward.

“Mwariki Secondary is the only public secondary school in our area and we all have a responsibility to see it succeed.  We must make sure that we send students to the university and that is why my team and I are here today to make the conditions better for our girls,” said the aspiring MCA.

Also in attendance with the team was author Joe Gatimu who has published a collection of poems in the book;Whispers of Wisdom.

Gatimu popularly known as Joe the Poet, recited a poem for the students and donated 30 copies of the book.
