Gusii youths have expressed their concern over the planned declaration which is scheduled to take place on Sunday 7th at Gusii stadium by a section of some youths terming it as a repeat of past mistakes and a move to taint the image of youths in the region.
This happens after a consultative meeting was held by Kisii youth leaders to deliberate on the same issue only to learn that the organisers had advanced without proper and extensive consultations or bring on board youthful leaders from all walks that is the church, Jua kali and students leaders.
Though idea was very much welcomed since it would unite all youths from both Kisii and Nyamira counties, see them speak in one voice and assist youthful leaders grow socially, economically and politically from the region, the approach used was not well and feared it would be a repeat happened in Otamba which attracted more rebels and created disunity contrary to the expected objective.
Youths from the region have since then termed the declaration a selfish move and vowed not to attend for it was organised by only two individuals who were identified as Duke and Mosiria of SONU purporting to carry the image of Omogusii youths.
“We are aware you’re using that name to source “handouts” from politicians but should you misuse it further we will discipline you accordingly," the youth leader Mr Ongiti alias “Mayor” said.
The two have been advised to merge ideas with the rest of youthful leaders in order to realize the bigger dream of uniting Omogusii youths for the common better of all.
