Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichung’wa has promised the expansion of Kikuyu market to uplift its status.
Addressing traders at the Market on Tuesday, Ichung’wa said the expansion will be vital to allow enough space to accommodate all the traders.
“The expansion will also help us reduce congestion within the town by relocating all the hawkers here,” Ichung’wa said.
The legislator hit out the county officers in charge of garbage collection saying they have failed to offer services to the market.
“Traders are contributing the income of this town and should be treated well,” he said.
Traders lamented over a ring of county officers accused of demanding levies outside the allowed hours.
‘’I wonder at 7:00 pm what these officers are collecting because I don’t think that will go into the county government but their pockets. I have addressed this issue and those involved will be arrested,’’ Ichung’wa said.
