Hawkers in Nakuru town have vowed not to vote for incumbent Governor Kinuthia Mbugua in the 2017 general election.
Speaking at Nakuru town, the hawkers and street traders chairman Simon Ole Nasieku said that the small-scale traders have suffered so much under the leadership of Mbugua and they will punish him by voting him out.
He said that Mbugua has failed to address the hawker’s plight by failing to respond to their queries and letting them in the hands of cartels.
Nasieku said that Mbugau killed the hawkers business by moving them out of town under the influence of what he termed as cartels.
“Hawkers in Nakuru town have made know their stand that they will not vote for Mbugua come rain or sunshine and he must be told and know that,” said Nasieku
He added “we cannot vote for someone who made us suffer under his rule and who betrayed us even after we stood behind him in 2013.”
Nasieku added that hawkers will soon make public their preferred candidate after vetting all the candidates who have shown interest in the seat.
“We will vote for someone who will be ready and willing to listen to us and address our issues and soon we are going to make know our stand ahead of the 2017 elections,” he said.
