A hearing date for a case of a man suspected to have killed two women at Milimani Estate in Maralal Town was on Tuesday fixed by Nakuru High Court.

Joseph Mumo Musengya is alleged to have killed a French citizen, Dominigue Marther, and her host Eunice Lowapere during the night of July 14, 2015 at the Olo Polos area in Maralal before dumping their bodies.

He is being remanded at Nakuru GK Prison and the case was coming up for bond application hearing on Tuesday but his lawyer was absent before court so another date was taken and notice issued.

Mumo had on October 2, 2015 denied murder charges before Lady Justice Maureen Odero.

The medical report declared Musengya of sound mind and in position to stand trial and follow the proceedings of the court.

On September 16, Lady Justice Odero ordered that the accused be taken to the Nakuru Provincial General Hospital for mental assessment to assure the court he was fit to stand trial.

Musengya’s trial comes as the Samburu Central CID office through the investigating officer, Job Mwita, had applied for his continued detention at Maralal Police Station before Resident Magistrate Abraham Gachie for seven more days to enable him complete investigations on the murder of the deceased.

Lady Justice Odero ordered that the case be heard on February 18, 2016.
