Who said that one has to get a white collar job to be well off financially?

Davis Omondi, a form two student from Wathorego in Kisumu County has defied odds and is doing well in Poultry farming.

A day school nearby called Kibos Secondary School, hosts this vibrant, goal-oriented mind.

"Being in a day school has made things easier since I started this activity while in class six. At first things were not easy as diseases crippled my progress but I held on and now I can see it coming to fruition."

His father Jarvan Mc'Otieno praises the enthusiasm and says it has helped the family handle some expenses including school fees. He urges young people to embrace farming as a way of generating income.

His mother Grace says, "I help my son feed the chickens during school days and they are doing well."

Davis says a grown up cock goes for Sh600 to Sh800 and a layer goes for Sh500.

“If I decide to sell all at once at an average of Sh600, I will make roughly Sh60,000."

"My fellow young people have taken farming like a dirty job and consider themselves digital. At the end of the day, we won't go back to our parents for everything. We need to refocus," said Davis.
