A house help on Friday morning denied stealing a DVD player from her employer before a Kisumu law court.
Purity Situma, was released on a cash bail of Sh5,000 with surety of a similar amount pending the hearing on November 20.
The court heard that the accused a former house help in Manyatta, Kisumu county stole the DVD player and sold it without the consent of the employer.
According to the complaint Peris Akinyi, Situma has been stealing items from her house and selling them.
The theft of the DVD is said to have irked her prompting her to report the matter to the police.
The DVD was allegedly stolen in October 20.
According to the accused, her employer has not been paying her for the last eight months.
Situma told Kisumu Chief Magistrate Lucy Gitari that the employer had asked her to do anything she wants in order to compensate for the unpaid allowance.
She used this reason to justify her selling of goods from the house.
