The street-lighting project is transforming lives of many in Kisumu.

Many people including traders and motorists are benefiting immensely from the project.

Speaking during an interview on how the project has changed their lives, bodaboda operators in Kondele said the project has helped them as they now operate for longer hours enabling them to earn extra cash from their job.

They attribute this to being able to carry more passengers unlike before when they had to stop their daily business earlier.

"Since the street lights were put up, the earnings from bodaboda has increased significantly because I carry more passengers up to late into the night because the areas are no longer dark," said George Ojwang, a boda-boda rider in Kondele.

"The project has helped as I now have more customers. Many people are now willing to travel to places like Manyatta and Obunga at night because of the street lights which have ensured them of security. Initially, many people feared travelling at night to those areas because they were dark and insecure, but now that is a story of the past," said Otieno Onyango, another bodaboda operator based in Manyatta.

Indeed, walking at night in the areas with street lights, change is evident.

Businesses in Obunga area are run into the night thanks to the project.

Residents of Kisumu are now urging the county government to extend the project to other areas to ensure that the whole county is developed.
