Most students get confused when they get to campus and fail to graduate at the end of their studies.
Students are faced with a lot of ‘threats’ which leaves them vulnerable to exploitation and exposure to drug and substance abuse.
Many students join campus with the mentally that it’s all about fun.
With little influence, they can easily get to a dangerous path of drugs and sexually transmitted diseases such as HIV and Aids.
The following are ways on how to survive in campus;
Work on your circle and maintain positive friends. Many people have found themselves in deep regrets because of bad influence of friends. If your friends all talk about partying having fun and less books then you are in the wrong company.
Know the rules. Most students forget that university has rules and regulations. Get a copy of the school rules and ensure you adhere to them. Respect the authorities and ensure you do not rough up with them for your smooth stay.
Know your surrounding. Study your school well and establish the ‘good’ and ‘bad’ places. This will help you avoid falling into traps and temptations.
Stay safe. Keep away from harmful activities such as taking part in illegal demonstrations which may involve battling with police. This may end you getting expelled from the school. Avoid night parties at night and do things right.
Be a good roommate. Live positively with your roommates and classmates. Be respectful and helpful. This way you will maintain peace with yourself and your surroundings.
Have a high self-esteem and self-respect. Know your boundaries and learn to say no to what does not please or look right to you.
Join campus activities. Involve in sports, drama, and clubs etc. that are healthy and productive. This will ensure you will use your free time wisely.
