Police in Mumbuni are searching for a woman who allegedly abandoned her four-month-old baby in a maize plantation in Kyanganga area Kasinga sub-county.
Confirming the incident, Mumbuni chief Mathew Mulee said that the baby was rescued by community policing officers who were notified by a good samaritan who heard the baby crying.
The chief said that the motive behind the woman allegedly abandoning the child isn't known but the grandmother of the child has been traced in Kyanganga and handed the baby.
Mulee said that the police have been informed that the woman who has two other kids fled to Athi river and they are trying their best to nab her and bring her before the law.
"We have been informed that the woman has headed to Athi river and so the police are trying to trace her," said Mulee.
