The embattled Kisii deputy Governor Joash Maangi has declared that he is in the Orange Democratic Movement to stay, putting to rest his much anticipated suspension from the party in doubt following heated debate calling for his suspension and even expulsion from the party after leading a delegation of Gusii leaders to the Deputy President William Ruto's Sugoi home two weeks ago.
Maangi who is also the county's ODM organising secretary was speaking to the press at a Kisii hotel after a daylong Kisii County ODM Co-ordinating Committee meeting which resolved the issue and agreed to work in unity as party officials for the interest of strengthening the party in the region.
The deputy governor said he was committed to the ideals of the Orange party and he will continue supporting it in the region contrary to public perception that he should quit over allegations of working with their rivals, the Jubilee party.
"I want to categorically state that I am in ODM to stay, contrary to what has been said about me on social media and other media platforms in the past two weeks. After today's Kisii County Co-ordinating Committee meeting, I re-affirm my commitment to serve the ODM party as its Kisii County organizing secretary,"clarified Maangi.
Maangi has been in the spotlight in the past two weeks, with ODM supporters and sections of the leadership from the county condemning him for having led a delegation of Gusii leaders to the DP's home, something that did not go down well with the ODM supporters in the region.
