Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichung’wa has declared his interest in becoming deputy president in 2022.
Speaking in Zambezi on Thursday, Ichung’wa said he would deputise Deputy President William Ruto if he contests for the presidency.
Ichung’wa said that Kiambu Governor William Kabogo was not qualified to deputise Ruto due to his poor leadership in Kiambu. Ichung’wa said from this, Kabogo has shown he cannot handle a higher position.
He said that Jubilee Party will retain the presidency come next year and from there he will be the next deputy president come 2022 He said he has started grooming himself in preparation for the higher seat.
“Kabogo has proved not to be the kind of leader who can serve the entire nation as he can’t handle Kiambu,” said Ichung’wa.
He said that 2017 Kiambu residents should vote out Kabogo as he has not been able to elevate the county to where it should be. He said leadership was about serving the people which Kabogo had failed to accomplish.
“I have served my people equally and have been in the frontline campaigning for JAP and come 2022, I will be the running mate of William Ruto,’’ said Ichung’wa.
