The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission is targeting to register 268,000 new voters in Nakuru County by the end of the massive voter registration which kicked off Monday.
Central Rift IEBC regional coordinator David Towett said they are targeting people who have never registered before or those who want to change their polling stations.
Speaking Monday during a media workshop in Nakuru town, Towett said they expect Nakuru Town East constituency to register the highest number of new voters followed by Nakuru Town East.
"By the end of the registration exercise, we are anticipating that Nakuru County would have registered not less than 268,000 new voters to add to the already existing 696,000 voters,"said Towett.
The coordinator added; "in our estimations, Nakuru East has the highest number of potential voters and if all goes well, then we expect it to register more new voters."
The officer said there are close to 318,000 potential voters in the county who have identity cards but have not registered as voters.
"We have over 300,000 people who have ID cards but they have not registered and out of that number, we expect to register the number I stated before,"he said.
He added that they will do all they can as a commission to register as many voters as they can in Nakuru County.
