Authorities in Eldoret have raised a red flag following revelations that dealers of second generation alcohol ferry the products in charcoal sacks.
County Commissioner Abdi Hassan on Tuesday said the illegal beer is mostly smuggled into the town from outside the county.
Mr Abdi said the outlawed liquor is mostly sold in makeshift bars located in busy and congested markets in Eldoret town.
"I have credible information that bars at the market place buy second generation from other counties and sell it there," Abdi told the press in his office.
"I have therefore directed all bars to be closed as investigations continue."
The operation that targets at shutting such bars he said will start at the Main Stage market and West market.
Abdi, however, did not reveal the origin of the charcoal sacks he claimed are use to hide the illegal beer.
He said anyone found operating a bar at a market place will be arrested and prosecuted.
"Bars are not allowed to operate in markets, so those operating the business are going against the law since markets are meant to sell goods and services and not alcohol," he said.
He added that the fight against second generation alcohol is still on and anyone found will be arrested and prosecuted.
