Business people from Kitutu Masaba constituency have echoed the remarks of Nyamira Governor John Nyagarama over regular blackouts in the area.
They say they incur losses due to downtime when there is no power since most of them rely on electricity for their business.
Speaking on Wednesday evening after the Governors’ remarks, the traders led by Grace Nyaboke also accused Kenya Power of slow response rate.
“Most of us we depend on power for our businesses to run, but we lose a lot when we don't have power for almost a week without anyone caring about us although they (Kenya Power) are aware of what is going on,” said Nyaboke.
They have urged the company to heed its mandate of offering reliable services to residents and make sure that they respond to emergency cases in time.
Edward Angwenyi who runs a welding business in Gesima says when there is no power, he has to close his business, a situation that has made him lose several customers with time-critical jobs.
“Let Kenya Power strengthen its services delivery to residents so that we can be able to develop since we depend on electricity for our daily business,” said Angwenyi.
