Kisii residents have been advised to make proper use of mosquito nets to reduce malaria infection in the region.
Speaking at Oroche dispensary in Bonchari constituency on Thursday during the launch of an exercise to distribute mosquito nets, Kisii County Director of health Dr Geoffrey Ontomu said that the challenge of high malaria cases is due to improper use of those nets by residents.
“The high rate of Malaria remains a challenge simply because residents are not using them in the proper way hence malaria malaria cases in health centres has increased,” said Ontomu.
He advised residents to make sure that they use mosquito nets in the proper ways so that the level of malaria cases can be reduced.
“My advice to residents is that once they have been given these nets let them use them appropriately so that malaria cases can come down,” said Dr Ontomu.
“There are places we expect high birth rates of mosquitoes like Quarries and near fish bonds so we advise residents to take extra care,” added Ontomu.
