Kisii Governor James Ongwae says thousands of investors from many parts of the world are attending the Kisii Entrepreneurship Summit that started on Thursday.
Ongwae says that the three-day event, being held at Kisii University grounds, is featuring investors from the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, Poland, South Korea, China, India, Australia, Japan, Israel, South Africa among other countries.
The inaugural event, whose theme is ‘Tapping the Trade and Investment Opportunities in Kisii County’, will also feature local investors, according to the county boss.
The main aim of the summit is to promote entrepreneurship in the county by encouraging the youth and the general public to embrace entrepreneurship and innovation as a means to wealth and employment creation.
“We intend to leverage on our rich agricultural base to build a robust economy hinged on value addition through agro-processing, branding and marketing to foster employment and wealth creation,” Ongwae said.
“Our county is endowed with soapstone, generation of hydro and solar energy that have not been fully exploited,” he added.
According to the county administration, Kisii has a huge potential in the areas of trade, mining, agriculture, industries, tourism and hospitality.
