As part of its social responsibility, the East African portland cement company in Athi River, Machakos county organized an HIV/AIDS awareness campaign among the youths of Athi River.
The awareness, which took place at First Baptist church in Makadara, Athi River was attended by hundreds of youths. Kenya Meat Commission, KMC in Athi River has always been sponsoring football clubs in Athi River as part of its social responsibility.
This is a very good step to take as a company. It rewards to give back to the community. Athi river is a town that boasts of numerous industries including Export processing zone, EPZ and Athi River mining company.
Others include Mombasa cement, Simba cement, Savannah cement and Devki. If these companies could give back to the community by sponsoring football clubs and schools and even providing dustbins for collection of wastes, then our county would be a better place.
