The scorching sun and the empty wallets have become synonymous with Njaanuary.

However, Nakuru residents are witnessing a different kind of January. 

No, it's not a change of the M-Pesa balance but in the weather. This has made it hard for residents to choose what to wear.

The day starts off like a typical January then suddenly, without warning,  dark clouds, the nimbus, my science teacher called them, form and by mid afternoon, the town experiences a downpour. 

This is the reason you will find our beautiful ladies dressed in 'my dress my choice' attires roaming Kenyatta Avenue in the chilly weather.

We don't blame them. It was probably 30 plus degrees when they left home. 

The farmers are, however, praying for the rains to go on.

Indeed, one man's meat is another man's poison. 

The next time you leave your house, bring an umbrella with you. You never know when mother nature will decide to bless us.
