The fate of several workers at the Rumish Paints Company in Nakuru town now hangs in the balance after fire gutted its premises on Saturday afternoon.
Dickson Kimutai who was stationed at the mixing department was lost for words after seeing the multi-million shillings company reduced to ashes.
"As employees, we are now staring at lay offs because there is nothing left here. All the paints have been consumed by fire," he said dejectedly.
Another employee Lameck Onyango also expressed apprehension of retaining his job stating that chances of such were minimal.
The company was Saturday burnt down by fire believed to have been triggered by an electric fault.
No one was injured in the four-hour ordeal.
According to the company general manager Mr Nathkasha Singh, the facility has briefly closed down to assess the damages that resulted from the Saturday inferno and will open its doors in a yet to be established dates.
He, however, remained non-committal on the fate of their numerous employees.
