ODM Deputy Party Leader Hassan Joho has asked ODM supporters countrywide to turn up in large numbers and register as voters.
Joho, who is also the Mombasa governor urged supporters not to be discouraged by the few Biometric Voter Registration (BVR) kits but to turn up in large numbers in a bid to be registered.
“Supporters must turn up in large numbers regardless of the few BVR kits which are available. As a party, we would have preferred IEBC to use polling stations as registration centres and provide enough BVR kits,” he said.
Speaking during a press conference at Raila’s Capital Hill office in Nairobi, Joho said party officials will be responsible for ensuring they register as many people as possible in their areas of jurisdiction.
He said the party had instructed all its grassroots leaders to take charge of the voter registration exercise and encourage eligible voters to register as part of a plan to enable them clinch the presidency in the coming general elections.
“To all ODM party officials at the grassroots, this is a call to duty. Ensure you identify the people who have not registered and make sure they do so,” said Joho.
Joho was accompanied by Kilifi Women Representative Aisha Jumwa and Kilifi Governor Amason Kingi.
