Nominated Senator Daisy Nyongesa believes Former Vice President Musalia Mudavadi will become politically irrelevant if he remains in Amani National Congress.
Mudavadi decamped the Raila Odinga-led ODM prior to 2013 elections and contested for the presidency on UDF party, finishing a distant third in a hotly contested General elections.
But Nyongesa, who visited Nyandoche Ibere secondary school on Wednesday said Mudavadi could rekindle his dwindling political fortunes if he joins CORD since the coalition enjoys support from his backyard.
“There is no doubt that Western residents prefer CORD to other coalitions. Mudavadi will become politically irrelevant if he doesn’t join us to boost his chances of becoming president. He is still young and I believe he can reclaim his fortunes in opposition,” she said.
She challenged the former Deputy Premier to make a swift decision of joining CORD before 2017 and solidify his future presidential ambitions.
“I don’t think he (Mudavadi) can even beat Jakom (Raila Odinga) as long as the two are in ballot. It will be important if he rejoins ODM or CORD for that matter and solidify his future presidential ambitions. He needs Raila’s support to be president of this country and that is the bitter truth,” Nyongesa added.
She urged Nyamira residents to register as voters in large numbers and urged them to vote in CORD led government in 2017.
“It’s important that you register as voters during this period. Voting helps we chose dependable leaders and that is what we must do. As CORD, our manifesto on development on youth and women empowerment is clear and I believe we will win as a team,” she said.
