The Jubilee party has more questions to ask themselves after a loss in the South Rift seat was taken by the opposition.

The south rift region is a stronghold of the Jubilee party since residents here have been behind Deputy President William Ruto, who is a Jubilee member.

With all the expectations, Ruto was treated to a rude shock after his supporters voted for the People Patriotic Party of Kenya (PPK) candidate in the concluded by elections.

From the outcome, it is estimated that people from the rift have reduced their trust in Jubilee led by the President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Andrew Maritim won the elections beating his rivals Richard Leitich of Jubilee party and Bernard Terer of Conventional Party.

Maritim garnered 4,988 votes against Jubilee and Convention Party contestants who garnered 3,029 and 52 votes respectively.

According to the star newspaper, speaker of the national assembly, Joyce Laboso, had earlier mobilised more than 15 MPs and senators to campaign for Jubilee but the efforts were ruled out by people on Nyangores, whereby, elections were held.

Bomet governor, Isaac Rutto, is believed to be the force behind the win. He is also supporting another KANU candidate in Kericho who is set to battle it out with a Jubilee flag bearer. However, the rift tends to lose their trust with Jubilee as the party has not fulfilled its promise as stated in their manifesto.
