A section of Juja Sub-County residents have faulted the Kenya Power over frequent power cuts in the area.
According to the residents, the irregular power interruptions have negatively affected their businesses.
They added that the power outages usually come without warning and most are forced to close down their business for a whole day making them to incur losses.
Juja MP Francis Munyua while addressing the traders at Juja town on Thursday said that there has been communication from his office to the Thika power plant demanding an explanation for the same and that the Kenya Power has promised to rectify the issue immediately.
"This is the third time in two months I have been forced to intervene. Kenya Power is letting the people down as they pay for the electricity as required," he said.
The residents who spoke to this writer on Thursdsay say Juja experiences blackouts while Thika and Ruiru which are neighboring them have electricity throughout.
One of the cyber café owners in Juja, Miguel Maingi, said that the power outages are mostly experienced during the day when most businesses are open.
"Kenya Power should be mindful of our welfare before disrupting electricity supply without warning since we pay electricity bills on time," he said.
However, Thika power plant director Salim Barskweni, through a phone interview, said that they are busy replacing the wooden posts and that the residents should be calm and patient as they complete the exercise this weekend.
