The residents claim that they have been spotting the carnivore together with its cub around the area at night and whenever it notices anyone it vanishes through the bushes in the area and through the superhighway foot paths.

The animal is alleged to have attacked the goats belonging to the Masaai herdsmen residing in the area and killed four more goats earlier this week and only leaving traces of blood and some remains.

Led by Mr. Sammy Kung’u, the residents claim they are now living in fear of being attacked by the animal as most of them live near the bushes where the animal is believed to be hiding at night according to the traces of the paw prints that are left behind.

Kung’u told the press on Friday said that the animal has been heard severally by his family members walk through the rooftop of their house at night and thus the family is living in fear. The children are not allowed to walk outside from as early as 6:00pm because of this.

The residents have sought help from the Kenya Wildlife Service officers through phone calls and an attempt to reach the KWS department by this Hivisasa writer as well was futile as the phone call was not received several times.

The residents also recorded a statement with the Juja police station earlier and also met with Juja OCS Luke Odiwuor to report the incident but there has been no change as the officers said that there can never be such an animal in the area and thus leaving the residents living in panic.

Earlier on, the area MP Francis Munyua further refuted the claims of there being such an animal in that area as he also resides next to the sewerage area.

The residents are now calling upon the government agencies to intervene and help them tame the animal before it strikes again as it might attack a residents next time.
