Women in Kabatini ward have lauded the county government of Nakuru for rolling out free maternal health services at Kabatini health center.
The women said that the availability of the maternity services close to them will help and save them a great deal because initially they were forced to travel to the Nakuru PGH to seek the services.
Led by Kabatini Women coordinator Peninah Kinyua, the women said that availability of the service at their doorsteps will reduce maternal deaths in the area.
Speaking on Wednesday, Kinyua said that Kabatini women have suffered for long with some of them being forced to give birth at home due to the lack of a maternity facility.
"We want to laud the county government for bringing this service close to the women of kabatini and as women we are happy and relieved by this health center," said Kinyua.
She added: "We have suffered for long and we can't stop thanking the county government for hearing our cry and responding to it."
