Kiambu County government has been asked to deal decisively with corrupt officials, who through their corrupt practices, are affecting service delivery to locals.
Thika District Business Association (TDBA) Alfred Wanyoike has said that corrupt officers in various levels within the county government should not be left to defraud the county its resources.
Wanyoike added that officials implicated in corruption should be relieved of their duties immediately.
Wanyoike's call comes as four Kiambu County Finance Department officials were charged in Kiambu Law Courts last week with conspiracy to defraud the county government Sh18 million.
"County officials who have been implicated in corruption must be relieved of their duties immediately. Residents of Kiambu are not ready to be served by officials who are tainted with corruption. We do not want the corruption that we have witnessed in the national government to trickle down here," he said in Majengo, Thika on Wednesday.
He said that there have been reports that the county has been losing million of shillings in various dockets through corruption and asked governor William Kabogo to crack the whip on corrupt officials.
"The buck stops with the top office in the county and the governor must be ready to sweep his house clean to ensure that corruption does not further affect service delivery in the county," he added.
Kabogo has been quoted in the past saying that his government will not tolerate corruption at all levels and that is why the county government is digitising most of its services to eliminate corruption.
