Kiambu Governor William Kabogo has urged youths in the county to take advantage of the development funds being given by the government to start businesses of their choice.

Speaking when he disbursed Biashara Funds cheques worth Sh30 Million to youths at Kiambu town on Saturday, Kabogo said that the county government has taken several steps towards empowering young people.

He said the county has allocated adequate funds to the Biashara Fund the money he are meant to empower marginalised groups.

“Young people, women and persons with disabilities should take advantage of the funds we are giving under the Biashara Fund to start business of their choice and get empowered economically,” he said.

The Kiambu governor said that the county has put in place more programmes meant to empower the marginalised groups.

He said that programmes to train youth entrepreneurs will soon be launched across the county.

The Governor also asked youths to do business with the county government through tendering. He said that the government has set aside 30 per cent of tenders to marginalized groups.

“You (marginalised groups) have no reason to complain over lack of jobs because we have done our best to give you the best,” he said.

The Governor said the county government will continue to engage with the marginalized groups on various developments.

He said that empowering the youths and other marginalized groups will provide a platform for development.
