Kiambu Governor William Kabogo has asked the national government to issue residents with land titles to curb cases of land conflict.
Speaking at Ndumberi Grounds on Saturday, Kabogo said that several cases of land conflict have been reported in the county.
He said that land conflict has led to deaths of some people and destruction of property in the past and that the government has to address the problem by issuing land titles to genuine land owners.
“The national government through the Ministry of Lands and the National Lands Commission (NLC) should expedite issuance of land titles to Kiambu residents to curb land conflict,” said governor Kabogo.
The Kiambu county boss cited the Mboi-Kamiti land tussle where he said that lives have been lost in the past in regards to ownership.
Kabogo stated that land conflict is a serious problem that can threaten peace and harmony of the people. He said that the government has to quickly address all land matters to curb conflict.
At the same time, Kabogo asked residents to be careful when conducting land transactions to avoid cases of being duped. He noted that cases of people being duped by land cartels shave been reported in the past.
The Kiambu governor stated that his government will work with the national government to make sure that locals are issued with land titles.
