Kiambu Governor William Kabogo has warned that corruption is likely to sink the country into poverty if appropriate measures are not taken towards taming it.
Kabogo said that corruption has penetrated government systems and the vice is threatening the economic stability of the country.
Speaking during a church service at St Martin Catholic Church in Juja on Sunday, the Kiambu governor called for change of tactics in taming corruption.
He observed that if not checked, corruption will drain the countries resources.
“At the level we have reached, I think we need change of tactics and new measures in taming corruption or else Kenya will plunge into poverty,” said Kabogo.
The Kiambu County boss also called for freezing of assets of suspects linked to corruption scandals.
He said that stolen public property must be recovered and individuals implicated prosecuted.
“We cannot continue in this manner, all those implicated in graft must face the law,” said Kabogo.
Governor Kabogo further asked suspects implicated in graft scandals to face their problems as individuals. He said that the move by some suspects to drag their tribes and political parties in the scandals is not right.
Kabogo also appealed to the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) to carry out fresh probe into the NYS saga.
He said that the recent revelations implicating more people in the NYS scam need to be thoroughly investigated.
Kabogo also asked the opposition leaders to stop using corruption as a way of condemning the Jubilee government.
He said that there is need for collaborative efforts among politicians, Kenyans, and other stakeholders in taming graft in the country.
